Netgleam is a native iOS network-diagnostics app. It is designed to explain the connection your device is using without creating an account or building a profile about you.

Data handled by Netgleam

OmarKnows does not receive or store your Netgleam diagnostics, history, labels, or speed-test results. Netgleam has no account system, advertising, tracking SDK, or server-side user database.

Network tests do contact third-party services. Those providers receive the public IP address and request metadata needed to answer the request. Some providers retain request logs or anonymized measurements under their own privacy policies.

Data stored on your device

Netgleam stores connection timeline events, diagnostic results, speed-test results, and any cellular line or carrier labels you enter. This data stays in the app’s local storage on your device. You can remove it from Netgleam → Settings → Clear History or by deleting the app.

Permissions

  • Location While Using the App is optional. iOS requires it before an app can read the current Wi-Fi network name. Netgleam does not request or store your GPS coordinates.
  • Wi-Fi Information lets Netgleam ask iOS for the current SSID and BSSID when permission is available.
  • Wireless Insights Service Predictions lets supported iPhones provide Apple’s on-device cellular service outlook. Availability depends on the device, carrier, and region.

Network requests

Network diagnostics only work by contacting internet services. Those services receive the normal information every web request includes, such as your public IP address and basic connection metadata.

Service Purpose
Cloudflare Speed Test Adaptive download, upload, latency, and jitter measurement. Cloudflare receives the public IP address, derives an approximate location and ASN, truncates the address, and contributes anonymized measurements to a shared internet-performance database.
Google connectivity check Confirm internet reachability and measure request timing
ipwho.is Primary public IP, provider, ASN, and approximate network location lookup
ipapi.co Fallback public IP information lookup when the primary service is unavailable
Apple captive portal page Open a network sign-in page only when you tap that action

Netgleam does not send your saved history, custom cellular labels, contacts, precise location, or device advertising identifiers to these services.

Sharing

Reports leave the device only when you explicitly choose Share. Support email includes the app version, iOS version, connection type, and basic IP protocol availability. It does not automatically attach history, public IP details, or saved cellular labels.

Third-party processing

OmarKnows does not sell data or share it with advertisers or data brokers. The third-party network services above process individual requests according to their own privacy policies. Their processing is limited to the network actions you ask Netgleam to perform.

Children

Netgleam is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
